GUNAGAANA - a musical tribute to actors

Zee Kannada has launched its third season of Gunagaana - a musical tribute, from July 19. Zee Kannadas Gunagaana, one of south India’s most unique and revered programmes, is a show that pays tribute to the music / musicians of Kannada Industry. Well known cine star and a familiar face on small screen Varsha will be the gorgeous host of the show.

Now in its third season, Gunagaana focuses on hit songs of film stars of yester years who have immortalized these songs in the hearts of millions of Kannadigas. In its first season, the show was a talent hunt that sought out young singers who closely matched the legendary singers. In its second season, it paid tribute to the evergreen musical hit films of Kannada.

Uniqueness of the new series of Gunagaana is that the artistes performing these legendary songs are the very talented and popular faces of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs & Rock n Roll. Ashwin Sharma, Ajay Bharadwaj, Dhanush, Pramat, Pragna Bhat, Chetana, Inchara, Ohileshwari, Shilpa, Sahana Hegde, and many more kids, will come together to recreate and relive the songs of hit movies of hit actors like Dr. Rajkumar, Dr. Vishuvardhan, Ambarish, Shankar Nag, Shrinath, Ananth Nag, Ravichandran, B. Sarojadevi, Kalpana, Arathi, Bharathi, Jayanthi, Lakshmi, and many others. There will also be dance performers to spice up the show and recreate the ambience of the hit songs.

Each episode is dedicated to one star and his/ her popular songs. The episode takes the viewer through the actors’ journey of life. The show not only features their hit songs but will also have the artistes in person to share their fond memories, experiences and provide interesting tit-bits. Even the set of this show is extremely colourful and gives a very fresh and vibrant feel.
